About The Role:

We are seeking an experienced and highly detail-oriented Finance & Loan Operations Specialist with a demonstrated track record in accounting and finance, and proven experience within Australian financial services, non-bank lending or private credit environments.

This role is responsible for ensuring accuracy, control and integrity across financial reporting and reconciliations, loan administration, accounts payable/receivable, as well as assisting with loan funding and drawdowns.

Reporting to the Finance Operations Manager, the role would be ideal for someone with solid accounting fundamentals who enjoys problem-solving, working collaboratively, and contributing to continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Reporting and Processes

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date cashbooks, ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded, appropriately allocated/reconciled, and fully supported by documentation.
  • Perform daily bank reconciliations and manage payments processing function ensuring timely posting, correct allocation, and zero unexplained variances.
  • Prepare and maintain financial reports, including accruals, prepayments/provisions as well as general ledger reconciliations where appropriate.

Loan Operations and Administration

  • Preparation and reconciliation of loan statements including payout figures, settlement statements, and maturity notices, independently validate to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Support loan lifecycle management including default monitoring, termination processes, enforcement actions, and recovery cost tracking.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to resolve queries or discrepancies.
  • Preparation and update portfolio reporting and documentation related to loan funding and drawdowns.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy across all financial records.

Compliance and Controls

  • Support Tax-related processing (BAS preparation support) through accurate reconciliation of loan-related transactions as well as other reporting and compliance duties.
  • Proactively review existing workflows and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and controls, ensure compliance with finance policies, and maintain documentation of key processes and tasks.
  • Perform ad-hoc financial duties as required by the Finance Operations Manager and/or Senior Management.

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or any related field
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in accounting or finance, with exposure to Financial Services, Lending and/or
  • Mortgage Management Financial Services, Lending and/or Mortgage Management preferred.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Excel including reconciliations, formulas and data validation.
  • Previous experience in lending and/or loan management is highly regarded.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Practical working knowledge of Australian GST, tax, and compliance obligations within a lending environment would be advantageous.

Tools: 

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Advanced Excel required – pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas)
  • Accounting Systems – Practical experience performing GL reporting, reconciliations and/or journal processing
  • Experience with loan administration systems (LMS) would be ideal
  • Exposure to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system highly regarded
